Scarclaw stretched his legs and walked out of the den, seeing that the fresh-kill pile was low he walked out of the camp and onto the landscape and began sniffing the air. He scented mouse and drooped into a crouch, stalking forward he saw the mouse. He was about to jump when a long body struck out and got the mouse first, Scareclaw lept back and sped off home and looked for his leader.

Terrorclaw left the nursery, searching for something to eat. She was starving and Beekit wouldn't go to sleep for the longest time so she could get something. She grabbed a rabbit and carried it back to the nursery. She was hungry enough to eat a badger, but the rabbit would do.

Shadowfierce heard Scarclaw run in so he rushed out of his den,"what is it?"
"Snake just outside camp!" replied Scarclaw
Shadowfierce whipped around and ran into the nursery," keep the kits with you," he instructed Terrorclaw,"there is a snake just outside camp!"

Terrorclaw nodded, "They'll be safe with me." She curled her tail around Beekit.

"Scarclaw, come with me," instructed Shadowfierce, running out of the camp. Scarclaw followed. They quickly found the snake and got above it on the slope.
"Alright, help me push this rock on it," Shadowfierce told Scarclaw.
They pushed and pushed until finally it gave way down the slope. They checked to see if it hit the snake, it didn't.
"Ok noone hunts near hear and always has a partner watching until we kill that thing," Shadowfierce told everyone when they got back to camp.

"What should we do now?" Scarclaw asked his leader.
"We hop it goes away but in the meantime we reinforce the camp wall," Shadowfierce answered,"start collecting pepples and weeds and fill in the any gaps in the wall."

Terrorclaw licked Beekit's head. The small kit stretched in his sleep.

Scarclaw crept carefully on the boulders, keeping an eye out for the snake, while picking up rocks and weeds. He walked back to camp and started reinforcing the stone wall.

Terrorclaw sat up and scented the air. A prickle of fear trickled down her spine as she thought she caught the scent of snake, but then it was gone. She frowned glancing around fearfully.

Scarclaw glanced toward the entrance to camp, "Snake!"
He started pushing a rack over to it and dropped it on the snake, after a while he looked under the rock. The snake was dead. He ran into camp,"I've killed the snake!"
"Good then now you can catch some fresh-kill," said Shadowfierce looking at the low pile.

Terrorclaw heard Shadowscar announce that the snake was dead. She relaxed and licked her kits' ears. HArekit was big and strong but she was worried about her other kit, Beekit. She was too small and didn't move much. She licked the small kit gently. She was so intent on Beekit that she didn't notice a second snake slither into the nursery until it brushed her tail. She jolted up, startled. A terrified hissed escaped her mouith. The snake rose up and faced her. She backed away. The snake had effectively separated her from her kits. She glanced at them in horror and she didn't dare call out for fear of startling the snakee into attacking. The snake flicked out its pointed tongue and lowered itself to the ground and began 'smelling' her kits with its tongue. Teerorclaw was frozen with horror. She should attack but the snake would attack her if she did. She gritted her teeth better her than her kits. She prepared to leap forward just as Harekit leaped up and batted at the snake playfully. Terrorclaw screeched and leaped forward, but she was too slow. The snake struck lightening fast, sinking its fangs into Harekit. Harekit squealed and then went limp, her limbs twitching. Terrorclaw grabbed the snake in her claws and sunk her teeth into the snakes skull. She jerked it back and forth, breaking its spine. She threw it away from her in disgust and fell beside her dead kit, sobbing.

Scarclaw heard Terrorclaw's sobbing and ran to the nursery.
"What happened?" then he saw the snake, what I thought I killed it. His eyes grew wide, there might be a colony. He rushed to Shadowfierce,"Another snake entered the nursery killing Harekit, there might be more."
"Go and try to find them," instructed Shadowfierce.
Scarclaw ran out of camp and followed the snakes' scent marks, he found the end of the trail and didn't see anymore snakes, so he ran back to camp.
"I think those were the only two snakes," he reported to Shadowfierce.
"Good, we will hold vigil for Harekit tonight," he said and walked off to the nursery.

Terrorclaw was not one to show emotion often, so she had stopped crying very quickly. Instead she crouched by her dead kit, staring down at with glazed eyes.

Shadowfierce ducked into the nursery,"will you allow me to take Harekit so we may prepare her for vigil?"

Today, I drove by a church, and the sign read "Jesus, the one man you don't need Twitter to follow." it made my day
