Stormpaw stood up and walked out of his den to go meet his teacher. He walked over to the fresh-kill pile and pulled out a nice juicy mouse and began to eat it. When he was done he smacked his lips in contentment and walked out of the cave.

Earthfire left the cave and padded into the forest. He hadn't been walking long when a strange scent reached his nose. He followed it and came across a cat. It was lying on its side in the middle of a small clearing. It was alive, its sides were rising and falling gently. He went closer to investigate. The cat was completely black and its scent was laced with sourness. Earthfire saw a wound on the cat's shoulder that looked infected. Its pelt was matted and he could see its bones jutting out sharply. He gently nudged the cat with a paw, it stirred and opened its eyes.
With a yowl the strange cat leaped to its feet, scaring Earthfire half to death. "Who are you?" Screeched the cat.
Having regained his composure Earthfire said, "Who am I? Who are you? Thie is my territory and you are trespassing." her growled.
The strange cat seemed to deflate, "I'm just passing through."
"Passing through?" Earthfire said in disbelief, "You look as if you can barely walk"
The cat bared her teeth, "I'm fine."
Earthfire snorted, "Yeah, right. You need to see a healer now. That wound looks infected." He turned back toward the cave, "Come on."
Almost reluctantly the cat followed him.
