Dolge stared down the shaft of his arrow. He let the stringmslip off his fingers. The arrow shot away from the bow and whistled through the trees. The arrow struck the deer in the heart. The animal thumped to the ground. Dolge untied the string and put the bow in his quiver. He walked to the deer and pulled his arrow out. He wiped the arrow clean and tied the deer's legs together. He carried the deer to a clearing where some soldiers were talking around a fire. He dropped the deer into the snow and drew a knife. He skinned the deer and put the fur on a rock. He brought the deer to the fire and put it on a pole. He put the pole on the fire and sat back.
Keluar crept through the forest, his bow out. He saw fire ahead and slowed. He put his feet down lightly on the snow so they wouldn't make a sound. He stopped when he could see the men in the clearing. Soldiers He thought in disgust. He drew an arrow and fit it into his bow. He pulled back the string and took aim. He released. The arrow flew soundlessly through the air. It struck one of the soldiers in the back. He drew another arrow and let it fly, striking down another soldier. He moved part way around the clearing and drew another arrow. He took aim at an archer that was cooking a deer.
Dolge watched as the soldiers fell and grabbed one of their shields. He brought it up just in time to block the next arrow. He grabbed his bow and propped the shield up on a rock, hiding under it. He nocked an arrow. He pictured where the arrow had come from and stepped out from under the shield. He drew back as he stepped out and released quickly. The arrow whizzed in the direction of the attacker. He ducked back under the shield.
Keluar saw the arrow coming and ducked just in time. He decided killing soldiers wasn't worth fighting another archer that could kill him easily. He turned around and ghosted farther into the forest.
