Braveheart dug up her other prey and headed back to camp.
Ashpaw covered her eyes. The blood on her fur was beginning to dry, making her fur stand up in odd directions.

Shadowfire collected his catch and made for the camp.
Ghost frowned. Ashpaw? He called out silently.

Braveheart padded into the clearing. She stopped when she saw Ashpaw lying on the ground covered in blood. Braveheart dropped her catch and padded over to the apprentice. "Ashpaw?"
Ashpaw didn't respond.

host pricked his ears and struggled to his feet and limped toward Ashpaw.

Braveheart nosed Ashpaw. Where'd all this blood come from? Braveheart went over Ashpaw's injuries. She only found the bandaged broken leg. She took a moment to heal it. But she was still confused. The blood was too fresh to be from the broken limb.
Ashpaw felt her leg being healed. She sighed quietly with relief.

Braveheart nosed Ashpaw again. "Ashpaw?" When there was no response Braveheart looked up and followed the trail of bloody pawprints to Rosefierce's den.

Ghost followed Braveheart's gaze and dropped his head, What did you do?

Braveheart padded away from Ashpaw and into the den. What she saw made her jaw drop. Blood covered almost the entire den floor. In the middle of it lay Rosefierce's still body. Milkkit still lay sleeping by the den wall. Braveheart padded across the bloody floor and grabbed Milkkit and then hurried out.
Ashpaw heard Ghost's question. She sobbed again.

Ashpaw continued sobbing. Would he even understand? Ashpaw threw a scene of the place she had been stuck in with Umbra into Ghost's head. In it was all the darkness and fear and loneliness and hatred she had felt there.
Braveheart put Milkkit down and padded over to Ashpaw and Ghost. "Go find Shadowfire." She told Ghost. "Stay away from Ashpaw."

Braveheart watched Ashpaw. She couldn't believe that Ashpaw would hurt any cat.

Ghost hurried to the camp entrance and walked out into the forest before he fell and felt tears come to his eyes.

Ashpaw opened her eyes. She watched Braveheart who sat a few taillengths away.
Braveheart licked the blood from her paws.
