"You're doing well." Jessie mewed. "Concentrate on the pain in your belly. When it's at its worst that's when you need to push." She turned and picked up the kit and placed it in front of Lightening. "Start licking."
Lightening nodded and licked the little kit.

Wolfpaw closed her eyes and waited. When the pain intensified she pushed. Another kit toppled out. The pain started slowly fading.

Jessie took the kit and put it front of Firpaw. "Start licking." Then turned to Wolfpaw again.

Jessie felt Wolfpaw's belly. "That's it. You did well." She turned to Lightening and Firpaw. "Let those kits suckle now."
Lightening gently lifted the grey kit and placed it beside Wolfpaw's belly.

Firpaw pushed the kit to Wolfpaw.

Jessie watched the kits for a moment and then padded away.
Lightening crouched beside the kits, fascinated by their little movements. "They're adorable!" She looked at Wolfpaw. "What will you call them?"

Lightening turned her attention back to the two kits. One was grey and the other was all white except for a black spot on the top of its head. The spot reminded Lightening kit of a flying bird.

Firpaw watched his kits.
Wolfpaw opened her eyes slowly and looked at the kits. She moaned and closed her eyes again.

Today, I drove by a church, and the sign read "Jesus, the one man you don't need Twitter to follow." it made my day
